1st grade reviewed line, color, and texture and created Hot Air Balloon collages. These are mixed media with oil pastels and tempera cakes.
I don’t have time to hang all the artwork in the hallway, but here are some great examples that I had to share.
5th Grade-Geo Snowflakes exploring positive and negative space. Kindergarten-Penguin Collages practicing drawing, cutting, and gluing. 1st Grade-Painted Penguins. We worked in fine motor skills with a paintbrush. We didn’t draw any of the penguin shapes before painting. 2nd Grade-Snow Globes. We explored a new resist technique with salt water. Mix a solution of 1 cup hot water and 1 cup Epsom salts. Paint on dark colored paper and it will form crystals as it dries.
Mrs. Newberry’s first graders enjoyed performing All Around the Buttercup and playing a follow the leader game.
Mrs. Newberry’s 1st graders enjoyed performing a dance to Frosty Weather. After dancing, we looked at the notation of the song and learned how melodies can go up, down, or stay the same.
Fall art is coming down and I realized I never posted pictures of the hallway displays. 1st graders decorated their pumpkins with a wide variety of lines. These are mixed media using crayon and watered down tempera paint.
Mrs. Fightmaster’s 1st grade class was learning about dynamics (loud and quiet). Here they are playing “Halloween Song”.
