Mrs. Hodges’s 5th grade class enjoyed playing Chicken On the Fencepost and practicing some ukulele chords.
2nd graders have been learning how to count a triplet rhythm. We are also learning how to perform multiple parts at the same time. Here you can see Mrs. Forgey’s class performing a rhythmic ostinato on body percussion to accompany our poem Loose Tooth. Then you can see Mrs. Wells’s class performing the same pattern using percussion instruments.

Kindergarten is beginning to play the mallet instruments. Our introductory lesson uses the story of Goldilocks to help students make the connection between size and pitch. Bigger instruments usually sound lower and smaller instruments usually sound higher. We took turns using three sizes of xylophones to represent our bear family.
