I had a couple 4th graders begging to learn the Titanic Theme on recorder. This is for you Samuel and Joseph!!!
Ms. Allison’s class enjoyed dancing a Russian folk dance— the Troika. The title translates to mean a three-wheeled cart. There is a theme of three in this dance. It uses an unusual partnering of 3 partners, there are 3 parts to the dance, and they shout “Hey” 3 times at the end of the third section.
2nd Grade practiced A minor on ukulele while we read a book—Tortoni Tremolo: The Cursed Musician
4th grade created abstract tessellations (shapes that can be repeated and interlock like a jigsaw puzzle).
Most grades have had lots of fun with a game called “Pass the Beat Around the Room”. This game works on tempo, internalizing the beat, group cooperation, and focus. The students must concentrate, remain alert, and anticipate the upcoming beats in order to stay in the game.
Mrs. Lowe’s 2nd Grade class is dancing to ”I Let Her Go”.
